Join us for a morning outing at Hedianga Farm led by Keanu Canto. Hedianga Farm covers 140 hectares and is located in pentad 2545_2820, between Garsfontein and Graham Road in Pretoria East. The farm features quartzite ridges, grassland, gardens, and koppies of blue gum trees, offering diverse birdwatching opportunities. Over 114 bird species have been recorded on the farm, including Ovambo Sparrowhawk, Brown-backed Honeybird, Striped Pipit, Lazy Cisticola, and various seed-eaters.
This outing will include a hike of approximately 4-5km lasting 3-4 hours at a slow pace with stops. The route consists mostly of dirt roads with some sections of hiking trails, including stony tracks and inclines. Comfortable walking shoes, appropriate clothing, sufficient water, a hat, and sunscreen are recommended. An entrance fee of R35 per person is payable.

Join us for a birding excursion to Roodeplaat Dam led by Neithard Graf von Dürckheim. Located approximately 22km northeast of Pretoria, Roodeplaat Dam offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching, featuring a diverse mix of bushveld and waterbirds. Birding will primarily be done by car with some moderate walking and viewing from bird hides.
Directions: From the N1 north, take the R513 Sefako Makgatho (old Zambezi) off-ramp and turn right towards Cullinan. Continue for about 6km, then turn left to Kameelfontein (not Kameeldrift). After approximately 3.7km, turn left and follow the dirt road to the entrance.
Entrance Fee: R26.50 per person, plus an additional R26.50 per car.
