Located in a secluded valley of the KZN Midlands Tillietudlem Nature Reserve is home to a variety of animal and bird species. You can find wildlife such as Eland, Wildebeest, Zebra, Blesbuck and several others in their natural habitat. Only to name a few, our exceptional birdlife include rare species such as Blue Swallows, Cape Parrot and three different species of Crane as well as our own resident Fish Eagles. We have two stunning lodges available, both situated in nature at its finest with either catering or self catering options available. Ograms Lodge is a beautifully restored house from as early as the 1800's. With 5 en suite rooms the house can sleep 10 guests. The dining area, bar and lounge each has a fire place for our magical snowy winters. This house is fully furnished and has a fully equipped kitchen. The wrap around veranda overlooks two of our dams and a gorgeous English Garden for your everyday enjoyment filled with bird species for the environment. Hlega Manzi Lodge is situated next to a rocky river with its very own small waterfall. This house has 4 rooms and 2 shared bathrooms. A fully equipped kitchen leads to an open plan lounge with a large fireplace. The spacious deck has a basic braai area overlooking the stream and beautiful Midlands plains and mountains.

INFORMATION FOR BIRDERS:

As a nature reserve we have several resident rare bird species. Our most precious being the Blue Swallows. With there only being an estimated 150 breeding pairs left, we are fortunate to have two return to Tillietudlem Nature Reserve every year. Some other precious species we have resident are African Fish Eagles, Cape Parrots, Sun Birds, Secretary Birds, various Ibis species, Wattled Cranes, Crowned Cranes and South Africa’s national bird, the Blue Crane. Our breathtaking scenery sets perfect environment for photographers to capture our birdlife in their prime.
