INFORMATION FOR BIRDERS:

The main beach has world class Blue Flag status and is great for surfing and swimming. When the conditions allow, the rocky reef just offshore, provides an excellent spot for snorkeling, where you will find fossilised remains of shellfish, various fish species, plant material and petrified wood. These 90 million year old fossil beds are located a short distance from the shoreline, so that at low tide it is possible for visitors to walk out and examine these ancient remains..

The Trafalgar Marine Reserve is a small area extending for 6km along the coast and 500m offshore. The area incorporates the 190ha Mpenjati Nature Reserve.
