Bergplaatz Forest Sanctuary is a family-owned farm nestled deep in the Soutpansberg Mountain Range of Northen Limpopo. Our beautiful farm is part of the Western Soutpansberg Conservancy, the Luvhondu Nature Reserve and the UNESCO Vhembe Biosphere Reserve. Our main self-catering accommodation ready for guest occupation is called The Shed. This lovely rustic, farm style house overlooks the mountains and forest and has 5 en suite bedrooms that can accommodate up to 10 people sharing. There are two braai areas, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living area as well as WIFI. The facility is only accessible with a 4x4 vehicle and is 7km from the main tar road up in the mountain range. We have a variety of hiking trails ideal for viewing the pristine wilderness and birding. The Soutpansberg boasts a variety of wildlife, with one of the highest density of African leopards in the country, a variety of butterfly species, scorpion species, ant species and reptile species. It is truly a nature lovers paradise.

We offer birders the opportunity to experience the pristine wilderness of the Soutpansberg Mountain with comfortable and well-equipped accommodation. We have a few special bird species and we are sure there are many more species that still need to be discovered. The Soutpansberg Mountain Range has 542 recorded bird species and there are excellent bird guides like Samson Mulaudzi in the area who can assist with guided birding. We offer birders exclusivity in their visit. The closest town is an hours drive away and the property is 7km from the main tar road, up in the mountain so peace and tranquility is synonymous with Bergplaatz Forest Sanctuary.
