St Lucia and surrounding area are part of the Zululand Birding Route and have the Igwalagwala Trail, which both offer some of the best birding opportunities anywhere in South Africa. Published author and ornithologist Ian Sinclair said “The Igwalagwala Trail in St Lucia (South Africa) has to be one of the best birding walks in the world for the number of quality birds for the surface area you have.” There are over 500 species of birds in summer, including many migrants. Birding tours are custom designed according to what you want to see, and costs are calculated at an hourly rate.
